Part of the Ronning lab traveled to Iowa State to try some cryo-EM experiments. We commemorated the apparent success with a selfie.
Research day for area high school students
Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo hosted area high school students as they presented posters on their research. Bryan did an awesome job presenting his data.

Brian is part of the High School Alliance. He is a high school senior and will doing some research in the Ronning Lab this semester. Welcome Bryan.
Graduation celebration
We decided to celebrate Yahani’s and Thilina’s graduation as a group by going to Stirnella for dinner. We even decided to let some guy from the UNL Chemistry department join us.

Both Thilina and Yahani decide they wanted to attend their hooding ceremonies to culminate receiving their Ph.D. It was a fun day at the Omaha Conservatory of Music for the Ronning lab as well as many other students and faculty from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Yahani defended her dissertation!
Congratulations to Yahani on defending her work. To celebrate, we had a delicious dinner at Stirnella in the Omaha Blackstone District. Dr. Jayasinghe will be staying in the Ronning Lab to continue her work discovering new drugs to treat TB and MRSA infections.
Thilina defended his dissertation!

Dr. Jayasinghe will be moving to Memphis and is starting a new job at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital working with Dr. Richard Lee. Safe travels and good luck, Thilina!

We decided to enter a pumpkin carving contest on the UNMC campus. There is a reason why I am not showing the final product.
